"Aliens Don't Care, But We Can"

As an X-Files fan, I have always enjoyed hearing people's theories about unexplained
phenomenon. Matter of fact, they're the 21st century's version of a tale told around a
campfire. However, I was bit taken aback by some speculation on the sci.astro.seti
newsgroup recently. I found a posting that turned my stomach more than it turned my mind.
Some newsgroup participants have viewed a video which they speculate shows a UFO flying by
the World Trade Center sight on September 11th. Alien enthusiasts believe that aliens have
visited every major disaster in modern history.
Vegas Vic writes: Judge the incredible video footage for yourself, posted in a Japanese
site, that appears to clearly show a UFO trailing the second United plane as it crashed
into WTC Tower 2, and then zoomed away. Amazing footage...be sure to click on the
streaming links near the bottom of the page to see it for yourself: Go to http://www.shop1.net link to the footage is on the right hand side of the page. Alien
Intelligence writes: I'd say that the footage appears genuine, and fakes can quickly be
eliminated, since this ran on Japanese TV. The footage shows from three independent angles
an object at Mach 3 or 4 traveling passed the WTC, as the second plane hits it. The most
likely explanation is a MilJet. My speed estimate is extremely very rough.
Julius Szakacs writes: It looks very clear to me, it is a bird flying in the foreground.
The dark object, zigzags up and down a bit and seems (to be) moving fast, because it is
closer to the camera when I'm observing the moon or other bright objects, and some birds
fly through my telescope view, I get the illusion, they (are) flying on the moon. I think
this film shows this effect. I don't see any UFO in any of these pictures. Truth never
makes money. I always laugh (at) those National Enquirer magazine headlines. But, they
(are) still in business, that's for sure. Plenty of fools willing to pay for it.
I tend to agree with Julius, but for additional reasons. This alien fascination seems to
be very Me-Generation. I don't believe any of these supposed aliens give a flying fig
about us. Similarly, I know a few people who are concerned about wiretapping of their
phones, the federal government searching their property etc. in light of the crack down on
terrorism. I've asked some of them, Why are you worried? Are you a terrorist? Personally,
I could care less about the crackdown. I don't believe the Federal Government cares one
bit about my sad little life.
Speaking of caring, I think we all need to focus on one thing: being more patient, kind
and loving towards one another. We need to look out for each other and do practical things
on a daily basis to demonstrate our caring to our friends, family and community. I think
most of us have been particularly aware of this since September 11th and have reached out
to others and have spent more time with those we care about. Aliens may not care, but we
can.
